Ordinary day!

"Gratefulness and simple living go hand in hand. When we are grateful, we appreciate life’s free gifts: friendship and solitude; movement and rest; Nature’s bounty and her spare winter introversion; our own alternating sonata movements of joy, sorrow, and joy’s resurgence. Through this appreciation, we find contentment." ~~ unknown

Today was one of those ordinary days ... simple, quiet, restful. I did a load of laundry, took care of some email, chatted with family via webcam, popped popcorn, watched football.  Just imagine all that I have to be thankful for encapsulated in that one sentence!  I have multiple sets of clothes, sweet family, advanced technology, entertainment ... and a snack!  How blessed I am!

I am grateful for an ordinary day ... grateful for the simplicity of the day!   Bonhoeffer says ... "In ordinary life we hardly realize that we receive a great deal more than we give, and that it is only with gratitude that life becomes rich."

Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so. ~~ Mary Jean Iron
